Langtang Trek

Langtang trek route is in the Langtang National park. It is lies on the northwest of Kathmandu valley where trekkers do langtang region trekking. It is the national park which is unique for flora and fauna. This national Park is the fourth national park in Nepal and was established in 1976 as the first Himalayan national park. The conservation area exceeds an altitudinal range of 6,450 m (21,160 ft) and covers an area of 1,710 km2 (660 sq mile) in the Nuwakot, Rasuwa and Sindhulpalchok districts respectively. The high altitude sacred lake of Gosainkunda falls within the park.

The Gosainkunda lake (4,300 m) and the Dorje Lakpa range (6,988 m) bisect the park from east–west to south–east. The summit of Langtang Lirung (7,245 m) is the highest point in the park. It has some very awesome trekking routes. More than 20% Trekkers who comes Nepal do langtang trekking.Trekking to Langtang has easy access and the trail goes through the beautiful traditional and ethnic villages and virgin forests on the way to the peaks of Mt.Langtang Lirung. Trekking in Langtang is spectacular in terms of Himalayan sights and as well as flora and fauna. There would be less number of tourists relatively less than Annapurna and Everest.

Langtang trek is a best trekking trail for the nature lover. You can see the mountain such as Langtang Lirung 7,234 m (23,734 ft), Langtang Ri 7,205 m (23,638 ft), Dorje Lakpa 6,966 m (22,854 ft), Langshisha Ri 6,427 m (21,086 ft) and many other peak which are above 6000 m. the landscape in this region is so beautiful as well as so peaceful. Langtang trek is the best place to see flora.

More than 1,000 plant species are  in Langtang National Park, amongst which 21 species are endemic. The park’s rich vegetation has by sal (Shorea robusta) forests in the southern portion of park. The sal tree become less  (2,000-2,600m) where there is Chirpine (Pinus roxburghii), Rhododendrons and Nepalese Alder (Alnus nepalensis). The temperate zone (2,600-3,000m) has mainly oak forests fading to old growth forests of silver fir, hemlock, and larch in the lower sub–alpine zone (3,000–3,600m).

The Nepalese Larch (Larix nepalensis), the only deciduous conifer in the region, is in the park and few places elsewhere. Throughout these zones, has several species of Rhododendron. They are arboretum,  barbatum, campanulatum and the scrubs of lepidotum.Tree species such as birch, silver fir, Sorbus microphyla and twisted Rhododendron campanlatum are found near the tree line. Above 4,000m Juniper and Rhododendron shrubs can be find.

Langtang region trekking home land for for wild animal

46 mammal species have been recorded in Langtang National Park. The Assamese monkey, grey wolf, red panda, clouded leopard, leopard cat, snow leopard, musk deer and Tibetan sheep are included in the protected list of the National Park and Wildlife Conservation Act 1973. The occurrence of the wild dog (Cuon alpinus) and wolf (Canis lupus) is still nebulous

Langtang region trekking is less busy and local people are very friendly. Tamang and Sherpa people invite you to trek and taste the nature over langtang. In a lower part there are Brahamin, Chhetri, Newar people who is ready to welcome you
